Exceeding Standards

The Common Core State Standards were developed by state leaders through the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). While public schools in California are required to implement these standards, private schools have the flexibility to choose the standards that best align with their educational goals and students’ needs.

At Carden Conejo, we strive for excellence in academics, emphasizing accuracy, persistence, and integrity in task completion. With a 54-year tradition of consistency and high achievement, our approach surpasses the narrow scope of the Common Core Standards. We set higher expectations for our students, providing a rigorous and enriching curriculum taught by dedicated specialist teachers. Carden Conejo’s proven curriculum has stood the test of time while remaining current and effective in meeting the needs of our learners.

A Strong Foundation in English Language Arts & Mathematics

At Carden Conejo, our curriculum exceeds standard academic benchmarks, fostering strong communication and critical thinking skills in both language arts and mathematics. Our English Language Arts program goes beyond Common Core expectations, incorporating classical literature, advanced grammar instruction, and public speaking to develop articulate, well-read students. Weekly poetry recitations and annual performances deepen comprehension, confidence, and appreciation for language.

In Mathematics, we implement Singapore Math, a globally recognized program that emphasizes problem-solving and conceptual mastery. This approach challenges students to think critically through multi-step word problems, hands-on learning, and advanced-level exercises that extend beyond grade-level expectations. Our curriculum ensures that students are not only proficient in math but develop the analytical skills needed for long-term success.

Advancement

Carden Conejo’s commitment to academic excellence prepares students for advanced coursework and leadership opportunities at top private schools and universities. Our graduates consistently earn placements in highly competitive programs, a testament to the strength of our curriculum and the depth of their preparation.
